Beckenham rail station, August 2020
I’m nothing if not a planner. Whether you consider it intense productivity or compensation for daydreaming too much, it’s an integral part of who I am. I love filling up my calendar with events, meet-ups, maps and word goals; it gives the aesthetic of a full life, and often manifests as rushing against England’s sharp, damp winds to grab the train to wherever, or intermittently staring at a notebook and being too scared to confront its pages.
That said, I’m delighted to reveal my plan for this blog:
- First, migrate the 4 or so posts from my Substack, which are excerpts from the second major fiction project I’m working on (the first is sitting in a few literary agents’ inboxes).
- This project requires vast amounts of time and research, spurred on by my personal interest in eschatology and the future of humanity. So, every week or two, I’ll post a review of the latest resource I’m reading for this project, with an abridged version posted as a reel on my Instagram. I hope you find some inspiration.
- Every time I receive an acceptance or rejection, I’ll scribble some thoughts here. The rejection posts won’t be laden with self-pity, but instead offer some insight into how a writer reacts when that fateful “unfortunately” appears.
If you’re reading this, you’re interested in what I have to say, which is itself a compliment. Feel free to subscribe so you don’t miss an update, and check out my obsessively-curated playlists if you fancy.
Thanks for being here.
